It breaks my heart

18 thousand married couples in California face their unions being discredited and their relationships declared invalid because of a campaign of hate. Please take a moment to watch this peaceful statement and sign the petition if you feel as strongly as I do that this madness has got to stop.

I am a human being. I am male. I have brown hair. I have blue eyes. And I am gay. I was born with these characteristics and it's about time we stop punishing people for their genetic make up and accept that in 100 years time we will be as ashamed of how we treat differences in sexuality as we do about our horrible history of racism. People have been walking into registrary offices for an entire generation getting civil marriages that do not involve religion. Same sex partners simply want the same rights as every other human being in the free wold. To marry the person they love.

for those caught in the fire

Don't really have much to say or add other than the fact is my heart
goes out to all those affected by the fires in Australia. Even half
way around the world there's an invisible chord that connects me to
home and I wanted to send some love back.
It's terrible to hear of the sudden devastation and loss of life and
I wanted you to know if you're affected our hearts are with you.

Here's a picture I took of a bunch of roses that someone gave me at a
gig I just did in Moscow.
I was touched and humbled to say the least at how kind everyone was
to us on our short visit.
I really hope to play so many more countries next year when I've got
something new to say.
If for no other reason than to say first hand how much I'm forever
humbled for being remembered.

In the meantime, just really felt compelled to say how grateful I am
for all my loved ones and all of you - and to send a tiny random
blinking light of hope out there to those caught in the fire.

I'm so proud of the way the country has banded together and unified
to help those in need.

My Interview With Darren Hayes!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a while in the making - but here is my exclusive interview with Darren Hayes (!) - I don't really think I can say anything more!!!! Questions are indented and bold (Normal in the readers Q & A section) and Darren's answers (as sent to me) are italicized - Enjoy! How would you describe "This Delicate Film We've Made" to somebody who has absolutely no Idea what's going on? Where/When Can We Buy it?

I'd describe it as an an animated film set to the music of my latest album. But it's a bit more than that really. It's a new way of listening to a record. The visuals are as important and as personal to me as the lyrics.

who stole all the good ideas?

I normally don't bitch about stuff - but I have a gripe to make about the lack of original ideas in the music business. And I have a stellar example for you.

I love a song called 'set fire to the third bar' - a duet between snow patrol's Gary Lightbody and the astoundingly talented Martha Wainwright. It's unique, stunning and utterly compelling with a music video that features the imagery of a couple separated by two way mirrors in a police cell. When I first heard it I remember thinking how I wished I'd written a song just like it.
Seems like someone else had that idea too.
