Countdown to the tour
Current mood: Moonwalking
Category: Moonwalking Music

I thought I'd start to try to write a more tour specific blog of what's happening day to day in the lead up to the tour. With less than a month to go - things are happening literally every day and some of them are even interesting

Today Fintan Fitzgerald (stylist) Tom and Mary (pattern cutters and tailors) came 'round to do a costume fitting with me. In my absence Tom had cut and sewn up a toile (google it) of my basic wardrobe. This was essentially a rough calico version of my outfits and I was so amazed to see the details already present in these temporary versions.

Things were tried on, colours were discussed and things were pinned. Overall it left me with a feelng of great respect for their craft and I'm looking forward to seeing the end results. I think from here, they take away the toiles and then make adjustments for the next fitting. When it's fitting just right, they'll then unpick the calico versions and use these as the exact patterns for the final pieces.

Shave is busy programming and getting all the files from the album ready and in working order to arrange and produce the songs for the show. I'll go and sit with him a couple times this week to discuss arrangements. Next week we'll spend more time together going over details of the new arrangements and working in my ides for the twists and turns I like to include in the older material - and of course the segues between songs (my favourite part!).

I'm getting rough versions of remixes of Me Myself and I trickling in. Wayne G is working up something MASTERFUL that I'm excited about. Richard is just getting into the footage of the video - having only just received the raw files from the video transfer. And I'm slowly slogging away at the gym (blergh). Gotta hit the stage and feel fit so it's a necessary evil.

We've firmed up our touring cast now.. and I can reveal that Shave will be our musical director and play keys. He'll be joined on keys by Michael Edwards. Peter Huntington is returning to play drums and obviously the guitar that is Steve Young will make his presence felt. Anna Maria La Spina is returning on stage to sing with me for the first time properly since her time with me on tour with Savage.. and we welcome Ian James (Sparx) as her couterpart backing vocalist. It's a wonderful team in a show designed by Willie Williams and directed by Bruce Ramus (both u2 alumni) both of whom haven't worked together with me since the 'Affirmation' tour way back when.

It's all shaping up nicely.
Just have to focus and pace myself.

Right now, someone has asked for a cup of tea.
And someone needs their tummy scratched.
You work out who.

Sending you loads of love as always!
